Jeuveau for Frown Lines
Jeuveau temporarily improves the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.
About Jeuveau
Jeuveau® is a prescription drug that can be injected into the muscles of adults to temporarily freeze the nerves and improve their appearance. These neurotoxins paralyze muscle tissue, which smooths out wrinkles for a more youthful look. Jeuveau® is most commonly used to treat crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and bunny lines. Injections typically take less than fifteen minutes, and the results can last four to six months. Jeuveau® is FDA-approved and has a very low risk of severe side effects. Patients typically return for follow-up injections every few months to maintain optimal results. For those looking for a safe and effective way to reduce the signs of aging, Jeuveau® may be an ideal option.
Jeuveau FAQ’s
Jeuveau is the newest and latest in wrinkle-fighting technology. It’s derived from a purified form of botulinum toxin, which has been used for decades to help relax small muscle groups that cause dynamic wrinkles.
Jeuveau, like BOTOX®, uses purified botulinum toxin to temporarily relax small muscle groups that cause dynamic wrinkles when these compounds are injected in them; they block nerve signals so the brain can no longer instruct treated muscles to move.
Wrinkle reduction, depending on the severity of wrinkles and desired results, can run anywhere from $200-$700. Those with deeper wrinkles may need more product injected to achieve their goals than someone who has only a few fine lines.
Jeuveau is the newest and most effective option for those looking to fight aging. Jeuveau can last up to six months, while other treatments only offer three or four. The effectiveness of treatment varies from person to person.
Though clinical trials have shown that their safety profile is similar, it’s unclear if either product has any real advantages over the other when it comes to treatment success rates or cost-effectiveness.
Botox and Jeuveau can be used to treat expression lines and both last 3-6 months, but Jeuveau takes a few days for results and Botox takes up to 14 days.
Jeuveau and BOTOX® are both effective treatments for dynamic wrinkles, but they work differently. Jeuveau is made in South Korea with a slightly different form of botulinum toxin than the one used to make BOTOX®, which comes from Ireland.
One major advantage Jeuveau offers over other neuromodulator injections is how quickly it starts working on patients’ faces: typically 2-3 days post-procedure versus 7-10 days wait times seen with rival injectables like Botox.
Do not use JEUVEAU® if you: are allergic to any of the ingredients in JEUVEAU® (see Medication Guide for ingredients); had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product such as rimabotulinumtoxinB (MYOBLOC®), onabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX®/BOTOX® Cosmetic), abobotulinumtoxinA (DYSPORT®), or incobotulinumtoxinA (XEOMIN®); have a skin infection at the planned injection site; or are a child. JEUVEAU® dosing units are not the same as, or comparable to, any other botulinum.
Tell your healthcare provider about all your muscle or nerve conditions, such as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, Myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, as you may be at increased risk of serious side effects including difficulty swallowing and difficulty breathing from typical doses of JEUVEAU®.
Tell your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions, including: any side effects from botulinum toxin products, including dry eye; breathing, swallowing, bleeding, or heart problems; plans to have surgery; weakness of forehead muscles; drooping eyelids; have had surgery on your face; are pregnant or breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant or breastfeed (it is not known if JEUVEAU® can harm your unborn baby or passes into breast milk).

To help prevent the risk of excessive bruising following Botox injections, please avoid the following at least 3-5 days before treatment; Avoid NSAIDs, blood thinning vitamins, and alcohol can prevent hematomas or contusions as well as speed healing time. However, if you are taking anticoagulant therapy prescribed by your MD for any medical conditions, please continue. FYI- Many medications and vitamins are considered blood thinning.
After you receive yourJeuveau treatment, these guidelines may help you recover quickly:
- Bruising: This may last a couple of days to weeks. Arnika Forte contains bromelain, which helps decrease the duration of bruising time and severity.
- Do not lie down for 3-4 hours following treatment.
- Keep your head in a neutral position for the rest of the day without bending the head forward or down. By following these precautionary measures, you will minimize the occurrence of ptosis (droopy eyelids) and less than optimal outcomes.
- Facial exercises (squint/frown/smile) are recommended in the treated area for one hour after injection.
- Avoid manipulation of the treated area for the rest of the day, such as using a Clarisonic brush, scrubbing, rubbing, or pressing the treated areas.
- No exercise for 24-48 hours following treatment. Anything that causes heat or increases blood pressure will likely metabolize the product faster: i.e., hot yoga, pilates, saunas, steam rooms, infrared sauna, high impact exercise, hyperhidrosis, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, stress, etc.
